Today I finally visited local dance school - Cheryl Burke. It is situated in a close distance to the office where I'm lucky to work ;) I discovered a lot of differences comparing conditions of dance lessons Belarus and in California.
At first, the building. In Belarus dance teachers usually are just individuals, they can't afford to buy or even rent a building. What we have in California - is a separate pretty decorated and highlighted building with much space inside. Everything is equipped in the best manner - perfect dancing floor, mirrors everywhere. Amazing built-in disco-style sound with perfect acoustics. Everything looks professionally. The second great difference was... people who visit this place. Dancers Minsk - mostly students, 20 to 30 years old. Age range here is 25-60+ :) Almost no students! Where are they all?
Cheryl Burke school presents every visitor with a free one-on-one lesson with personal instructor. I was introduced to Yana. She's a young pretty and cheerful woman. Moreover she speaks russian (and I was shocked to hear 'Privet!' from her ;)). For 40 minutes we've been dancing cha-cha, hustle, waltz. I haven't forgotten everything, and this inspires me to continue my personal growth as an occasional dancer. Let's rock!
I've decided to join group Cha-cha classes. That's an inspiration I've been looking for!
